- London finally makes his appearance. ...kind of.
Did you know he also originally appeared in the Federation arc. but I cut out that page when I edited it for length? I kinda wish I didn't because there really wasn't any specific length requirement anyway. I'm a lot less concerned with stream-lining things this time around, although I worry that I'm having the opposite problem and things are moving too slow.

Anyway, the previous page has the link to the christmas request doodles if you missed them, and the page before that has page 26 - some people may have missed it as the request notice went up a few days later.

I was wondering if we would ever see London. Given the importance of London (or at least British Parliament) it seemed reasonable to me that London should put in an appearance. Actually it would be cute to see Melbourne, Brisbane, and all the others nagging London to be made separate colonies so they were no longer answerable to Sydney. I'd like to see Sydney's reaction to that.

@Vandal: The original panel from the Federation arc had them all frantically yelling their desire to be an independent country at London while Sydney and Melbourne fought in the background, with London saying something like 'One at a time, one at a time, and please sort out -those two- first.'
The other cancelled cameo in that arc was a few New Zealand cities, because NZ used to be part of NSW, believe it or not. They were going to appear and express a vague interest in becoming part of the Australian commonwealth before changing their minds.

@Torino: I don't want to be too nit-picky but what the various colonies wanted was not to be independent countries but colonies with their own governor-general. If a colony has a governor-general that colony can deal directly with London rather than ask Sydney to ask London. I think anybody who reads Southern Cross will understand how annoying that would be.

I was going to suggest that somebody from New Zealand turn up too but didn't because I've no idea which cities existed in New Zealand at that time. I can imagine them arriving and immediately changing their minds as soon as they see Sydney and Melbourne fighting.

@Vandal: Ah what I was referring to was some deleted frames from before the part where it was officially decided that Australia be independent from England.
Obviously there was a alot of other stuff going on (there always is) but its hard to turn it all into a comic without it being too confusing, at least at my skill level.

@Torino: Oh right. I'm with you now. I was thinking in line with the current story as it would make sense at this point for all the other cities to be asking London if they could be independent from Sydney.

So yes, what you described makes perfect sense in the context of Federation.
